Heres a couple of good links for camera reviews Abbey...
The first one (Steve's Digicams).... After you read the reviews on this page you can follow the link back to the main menu and then there is another link from there to what they consider the best cameras.

Steve's Digicams - Camera Reviews

Then dpreview has some pretty good info too.

Digital Camera Reviews and News: Digital Photography Review: Forums, Glossary, FAQ

A couple of suggestions for ya....
First...look for a camera that has a optical viewfinder and not just the LCD.
It is much easier to frame your shot using your eye through the viewfinder than using the camera LCD screen.

Second....if you get a point and shoot get one with all Optical Zoom and not Digital Zoom.
Digital Zoom blurs pic's (badly in some cases)....whereas optical uses the elements in the lens and won't blur your pic's.

Third.....If your looking at the "Higher End" point and shoot cameras consider going with a DSLR instead....
An entry level DSLR with a kit lens can be had for only about $100 more.
You can do so much more with a SLR type camera with the ability change lenses.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to get.....

Default Thank You!

Hey!
Thanks alot for your feedback! what would be considered an entry level DSLR? I haven't had very much experience with DSLR's or SLR's so i'm just curious.

Nikon has a relatively cheap DSLR (It's their cheapest DSLR), the D40. I think its around $600 but I'm not positive.

Will,
I looked at the D40 and on the Nikon site it was about $600 like you said, but i was also thinking about what ellie had said. I really would like to be able to slip my new camera in my purse. i may not be ready for a DSLR. it seems like a pretty big jump from a cute, little, nikon 4 mp to a DSLR. idk i'll have to think about it. Also the D40 was 6 mp and $600and the ones i was looking at were just $350 to $400 and they were 7 to 8 mp. i think a point and shoot would be more to my needs right now. thanks again!!

No, the d40 is an 8mp camera. And secondhand can be had for much cheaper.

The problem with point and shoots is that they are generally crappy, no matter how much you spend.

But if you have to get one because its "small", look at the new fujifilm. Its 12mp and has two sensors in it to eliminate image blur. Its pretty sweet, even if it is just a point and shoot.

And Abbey, dont give up on DSLRs. They are def the better choice.
