Default Favorite?

What is your favorite lense and why? Then, what is your absolute LEAST favorite lense, and why do you hate it so much?

Tough call, but if my house were on fire and I could only save ONE lens, it would be my 85mm f/1.8 (AI'd) Nikkor. Beautiful lens for portraits in 35mm...

I forgot my least favorite... 200-500 f/5.6 Tamron SP. I paid a LOT of money for that lens back in 1987 (well over $1000). It's rather soft at all focal lengths and the tripod collar sucks. It only close to balances well with a very heavy camera attached (think an F3 with MD4 motor), and is horrible with a light weight body.

The 50 he's talkin about is a prime lens, it doesn't zoom. 50mm (about 2 inches) is the "normal" lens for 35mm film and a short portrait lens for APS-C digital. "Normal" is determined by the diagonal of the image area, which is 43mm for 35mm film, so 50mm is considered normal.
