Well photoshop can pretty much do everything

I use photoshop to design my websites (the graphics) i use it to touch up photos (cropping, color etc..)

I use it for everything haha

You can download it off of Adobe.com (makers of it) or get it shipped to your house (if you have slow internet do that)

It has all the things you can think of so i cant really tell you everything about the program because theres to much to say! you may want to check out Adobe for more info

And.. If you get it and want to learn how to do stuff you can go to pixel2life.com or goodtutorials.com for tutorials on how to do stuff (i personally dont like tutorials! but they are nice to learn where things are and what they do)

well its true its pretty darn expensive and now cs3 is coming out shortly wich is looking pretty darn cool
Adobe - Adobe Photoshop Family

but if you realy want to see photoshop for yourself before you spend a TON of money! there are trials available on adobe's website i'll give you the link
cs3= Adobe Labs - Adobe Photoshop CS3
5.0 elements[outdated and crappy]= Adobe - Adobe Photoshop Elements for Windows : 30-day tryout
[you just need to make a log in with them with a valid email adress]

Don't overlook Photoshop Elements - it will do 95% of what the full-blown version of Photoshop does, for about 1/6th the price.

I'm probably not going to "upgrade" to CS3 for a while, if at all. Even though I have CS2, I find myself doing 99% of my work in Photoshop 7.
